Meet the Contractor
Jacob Higgins
Jacob Higgins has always had a natural curiosity about how things are put together. This, combined with his knack for creativity, led to the opening of Custom Outdoor, LLC. The company is the product of years of experience and a true passion and joy for creating.
Early in Jacob’s childhood, he spent his time walking through construction sites in half-built new homes. He studied and observed the different phases of construction and how the builders used their tools. At 12 years old, he built and ran a bike shop in his parent’s backyard. By the end of his teenage years, he had built go-carts, derby cars, a trebuchet, a variety of home décor, custom art, a half-pipe, zip lines, rope swings, decks, tree houses, pergolas, patios, and retaining walls.
Jacob went on to develop his creativity in a new field with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Composition and Theory at Appalachian State University. Still enjoying design and construction in college, he worked various freelance jobs where he helped with ground-up house construction, outdoor landscaping, fencing, and farmhouse maintenance.
Jacob’s unique array of experiences in construction, renovation, creation, and design contributed to his story in beginning Custom Outdoor, LLC. He aims to create inviting spaces for you to host your family and friends or enjoy and rest in solitude with beautiful surroundings.
