Maintenance-Free Decks

the story of PENTHOUSE:

Sitting higher in elevation than its neighbors, this “penthouse” now has a stunning artisanal entertainment space to accompany it. Featuring a privacy wall, cocktail railing, nighttime lighting, and unique design features throughout, this project has become one of our favorites!

the renovation:

16’ x 20’ and 20’ x 20’ composite decks (colors: Deckorators’ Voyage Costa and Sierra)

the story of NEAPOLITAN:

Think chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla, but outdoor living style. We’re not talking ice cream, but rather this showstopper color combination. These clients wanted a deck that was daring, bold, and not like anything that anyone else already had.

the renovation:

13’ x 20’ composite deck (colors: Deckorators’ Voyage Mesa, Tundra, and Dark Slate)

the story of SLOT MACHINE:

We love projects that challenge our design creativity. These clients wanted a deck they could use to walk right into their new swim spa, but there was a caveat. A portion of the deck had to be removeable so the swim spa could have annual maintenance. While having the appearance of a normal deck, a 2’ x 20’ section is engineered to be removed upon time for maintenance.

the renovation:

16’ x 20’ composite pool deck (colors: Deckorators’ Voyage Sedona); sprig pattern privacy wall; 22’ x 10’ concrete pad (by KL & Son Concrete)

the story of FOUR ROSES:

On this project, we were entrusted with complete creative control while working within a specific budget. This is what we came up with! The client was very surprised with the built-in bar and cannot wait to host family and friends on their new entertainment space.

the renovation:

16’ x 25’ composite deck (colors: Deckorators’ Voyage Sedona and Dark Slate)

the story of TRIFECTA:

New color combo: unlocked! These clients added loads of new outdoor living space to their backyard with their new tricolored deck and stamped concrete pad. Thank you to KL & Son Concrete LLC for bringing the vision of this Ashlar stamped concrete pad with medium gray release to life.

the renovation:

14’ x 16’ composite deck (colors: Deckorators’ Voyage Tundra, Costa and Dark Slate)

the story of FIREBIRD:

Working on someone’s home gives us a little insight into their life. In addition to learning that this client enjoys grilling and entertaining, they gave us the opportunity to check out their prized possession: a Pontiac Firebird.

the renovation:

16’ x 24’ composite deck (colors: Deckorators’ Voyage Sedona); grill station pergola (Cover Your Pergola)

the story of LANDING STRIP:

We don’t recommend trying to use a drone near an airport’s aerospace… even if it’s only high enough off the ground for deck shots. With all of the detailed horizontal strips on the staircase in addition to the nearby airport, we felt that the only appropriate title of this project would be “Landing Strip.” Sorry we won’t be able to show you this one from the air!

the renovation:

12’ x 18’ composite deck (color: Deckorators’ Voyage Costa)

the story of THE GATHERING PLACE:

We have googly eyes over this recently completed composite deck. The black and brown color combo is breathtaking! We know that these clients are looking forward to actually spending time in their backyard now that they have such a great outdoor space.

the renovation:

12’ x 14’ composite deck (colors: Deckorators’ Vault Mesquite and Dark Slate)

the story of TRIPOD:

After completing all sorts of other outdoor projects for this client, we were stoked to finally build them our favorite thing — a composite deck! After demolition of their old entertainment area and the creation of this new one, we are excited to hear about all of the new memories their family makes in their new and improved yard space.

the renovation:

18’ x 20’ composite deck (colors: Deckorators’ Vault Dusk)

the story of THE MISSING PIECE:

A delivery mishap kept us from receiving one final deck board for a few days. Nonetheless, this Sedona stunner was worth the wait!

the renovation:

14’ x 20’ composite deck (colors: Deckorators’ Voyage Sedona)

the story of GRADE FOUR:

Solve the riddle for our crew: You’re making a rectangle. You’ve got all four sides in place. You need four right angles, but only two measure 90 degrees. What’s the issue? It’s funny how easy solutions can stare you in the face sometimes. Now you can join in and tease the crew with us!

the renovation:

10’ x 12’ composite deck (colors: Deckorators’ Voyage Sedona)

the story of (de)LAY POOLSIDE:

This client unfortunately faced many permit delays with the install of their pool. Once it was finally installed, the pool height was lower than anticipated. Some quick thinking on our feet and slight adjustments to our building plan created the pool-level deck they had been waiting for so long!

the renovation:

16’ x 16’ composite deck (color: Deckorators’ Voyage Sedona)

the story of THIRD TIME’S A CHARM:

What would you do if you hired a contractor to build your deck and it didn’t meet your expectations? Well, this client called us! So, we tore it all down and built it our way to finally give this client the deck of their dreams. We even added some extra sparkle (In-Lite riser light).

the renovation:

9’ x 16’ composite deck (color: Deckorators’ Voyage Khaya)

the story of RITE AID:

Sharp, bold, sleek, polished — how would you describe this reno? Topped with solar capped railing, these clients are eager to use their new entertainment space day or night.

the renovation:

12’ x 14’ composite deck (colors: Deckorators’ Vault Dusk)

the story of MELTING POT:

More supply chain issues created an interesting predicament for this project. It took visits to not one, not two, but NINE suppliers to gather all of the materials necessary for this deck. For the material melting pot that this project was, we are thrilled to provide one cohesive look to this outdoor space.

the renovation:

12’ x 24’ composite deck (colors: Deckorators’ Costa)

the story of FAMILY MATTERS:

The patience and understanding of this project’s clients were a godsend. With backorders, post-COVID supply chain issues, and unforeseen circumstances, we ensured them the final result would be worth the wait! Without further ado…

the renovation:

10’ x 16’ upper and 12’ x 16’ + 4’ x 6’ lower composite deck (color: Deckorators’ Voyage Mesa)

the story of THINK SKINNY:

Building a deck under a bay window creates some thrilling construction challenges. With some “thinking skinny,” side army crawls, and squeezing into 10.5 inches sections of muddy workspace, we got the job done!

the renovation:

12’ x 16’ composite deck (colors: Deckorators’ Vault Mesquite and Dark Slate)

the story of EVICTION NOTICE:

Phase one of this client’s backyard is complete! With new siding, landscaping, and final inspections underway, we are looking forward to posting more project updates in the coming weeks. In the removal of the previous decking, unfortunately, a family of squirrels were evicted from their home. The new composite deck has waterproofing features added underneath so that the concrete patio below can still be enjoyed in the rain.

the renovation:

12’ x 28’ composite balcony deck (colors: Deckorators’ Voyage Costa and Dark Slate)

the story of STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN:

This client wanted a showstopper deck to last for generations to come. With durable PVC decking made to withstand summer heat and scratches from pups and the grandchildren’s toys, we hope to hear about all of the fun times had in this backyard space.

the renovation:

25’ x 10’ deck with wraparound stairs (color: TimberTech AZEK’s Mahogany)

the story of TAKE A TURN

In converting this client’s staircase to maintenance-free material, they had one requirement: make it change directions! Mission accomplished.

the renovation:

6’ x 9’ composite landing and staircase (colors: Deckorators’ Voyage Costa and Khaya)

the story of A HAIL OF A DECK:

We are #obsessed with the gray and white color contrast of the deck features. Mid-project, there was a freak April hail storm, but the composite decking held strong. We are looking forward to hearing about the memories made in this revamped backyard!

the renovation:

deck makeover on existing frame (color: Deckorators’ Tidal Gray); deck skirt with hidden door; concrete landing pad

the story of LONE RANGER:

A lot of our projects bring life to spaces that are no longer used or practical in a backyard. Now, these clients have a stunning (and maintenance free!) deck and functional patio that works well with their property's layout.

the renovation:

12’ x 12’ composite deck (color: Deckorators’ Voyage Khaya)

the story of BORDERLINE:

Madonna, anyone? Sometimes factors outside of our control determine deck design. Restrictive boundaries put our creativity muscle to work so that we can create a functional space that doesn't affect other vital parts of the home.

the renovation:

7’ x 12’ composite deck (color: Deckorators’ Vault Mesquite)

the story of EVOLUTION:

A lot of our projects bring life to spaces that are no longer used or practical in a backyard. Now, these clients have a stunning (and maintenance free!) deck and functional patio that works well with their property's layout.

the renovation:

the story of A LI’L SOMETHING:

Sometimes a backyard just needs a li’l something. This new modern stoop was a great aesthetic and functional addition to the client’s outdoor space.

the renovation:

4' x 6' composite stoop (color: Deckorators’ Vault Dusk)

the story of A CHRISTMAS GIFT:

Not all presents come wrapped under the Christmas tree. We were honored to gift this stoop to the most deserving family members for functional access to their front entrance.

the renovation:
